NEW DELHI :South African superstar AB de Villiers has announced his retirement from international cricket, four days after his IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore exited the 11th season of the lucrative Twenty20 league in which his exhilarating batting and pyrotechnics in the field have further endeared him to a legion of Indian fans.
                 The 34 year old cricketer has playes in 114 matches, 228 one-day international and 78 T-20 matches for the Proteas.
           He took time away from the Test Cricket in 2017, missing the sense against England, but returned to red-ball side in December.

" I've had my turn, to be honest, I'm tired,he said.

DEBUT :

De villiers made his international debut in the Test series against England in 2004 and played in a limited overs match a year later on.
  He scored 8,765 test runs for South Africa and has a batting average of over 50 in both Test and ODI cricket
.He has been a 360° player in ODI's and scored 9577 runs at an impressive average rate of 53.50. His highest record in ODI was 176 runs at an strike rate of 101.09. He has scored 25 centuries in ODI's.

A BIG DECISION :

In announcing his retirement from the international game, de Villiers said he was "tired" and "running out of gas".



"I have decided to retire from all international cricket with immediate effect. After 114 Test matches, 228 ODIs and 78 T20 internationals, it is time for others to take over. I have had my turn, and to be honest, I am tired," said the former South African captain. "This is a tough decision, I have thought long and hard about it and I'd like to retire while still playing decent cricket. After the fantastic series wins against India and Australia, now feels like the right time to step aside."
